Get involved with the NAWIC Alaska Chapter by joining a Committee!

Standing Committees

These standing committees are mandatory by NAWIC National, and report to the

Alaska Chapter Board of Directors.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is the life of the NAWIC Alaska Chapter. The committee ensures that our members feel engaged and aware of the activities planned within the chapter. The Membership Committee’s goal is the retention of members by managing the renewals and to increase our membership yearly with new members.

Professional Development & Education Committee

The Professional Development & Education (PD&E) Committee develops and plans monthly professional and educational events. These monthly professional and educational events coincide with the Chapter’s Monthly General Meetings. The PD&E committee also plans fun events for the membership which can range from paint night, gardening, a DIY project, and bowling.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee assists the Treasurer with the financial analysis, advice, and oversight of the organization's budget. Their sole responsibility is to ensure the organization operates the financial resources it needs to provide programs and services to the community.

Special Committees

Block Kids

This Committee is essential in educating the youth about Construction.

The Block Kids Building Program is a national building competition for children in kindergarten through 6th grade and introduces them to construction careers.

WIC Week

WIC Week™, or Women in Construction Week™, celebrates and promotes the role of women in the construction industry. NAWIC held the first WIC Week in 1998 and it has grown and expanded each year since. The NAWIC Alaska Chapter holds WIC Week events, which can include a safety component, educational presentations, job site tours, luncheons, full day conference(s), and virtual events. The WIC Week Committee also supports WIC Week events provided by other organizations and companies.

Golf Tournament

The NAWIC Alaska Chapter raises scholarship money for any Alaskan students or trade apprentices that are interested in exploring careers in construction or construction related fields. The NAWIC Alaska Chapter hosts an annual Golf Tournament that gathers sponsors to help raise the funds for these scholarships.

Safety & Health Awareness Committee

The Safety & Health Awareness Committee obtains and distributes best practice information as well as new and changing regulations for safety within the construction fields to NAWIC members.

 

The goal of this committee is to ensure that NAWIC members and their companies have access to information and tools needed to not only create a safe work environment for themselves but also the communities that surround them in their work and personal lives.

Awards Committee

The Awards Committee manages NAWIC specific awards and other awards that NAWIC helps to foster our members, businesses, and projects within the state of Alaska.

Ways & Means Committee

The Ways and Means Committee runs the annual fund-raising program based on a budget goal established by the committees, members, and board annually. This committee establishes communication and relationships with companies and members for annual fund-raising.

Marketing Committee

The Marketing Committee is responsible for conducting, in conjunction with Membership Committee and PD&E Committee, monthly interactive opportunities to share best practices for publicizing NAWIC at all levels – Nationally, Regionally, and Locally.  

 

The goal of this committee is to unite NAWIC in a common vision so it can operate in a focused, strategic manner.
